• For the first time ever in English, HAC
offered a course on vision therapy led by
Dr. Rachel Eichler, Director of HAC’s
Vision Therapy Clinic. In addition to
proposing modules for active learning,
the course included one day of live
guest lectures and a Q&A session with
renowned binocular vision expert Prof.
Mitchel Scheiman. The course was
attended by 33 M.Optom. students,
along with 22 international students
from Greece, Lithuania, Portugal, the
Palestinian Authority, South Africa,
Nigeria, and Singapore.
• The Department of Optometry’s bi-
annual course on Retinal Diseases taught
by Prof. Simon Barnard, from the UK, and
Dr. Jonathan Levine, Senior Lecturer at
HAC, was attended by three international
students from Italy, the Netherlands, and
Great Britain. Prof. Simon Barnard also
led an online course on the development
of vision in children, and provided
participants with the knowledge and
skillset necessary to diagnose, treat, and
manage visual problems in young patients.
The course was attended by three
international students from Greece, the
Netherlands, and South Africa.
• The Department of Optometry has been hosting bi-monthly lunchtime seminars attended
by approximately 80 participants, including HAC students, faculty, international students,
friends of the Department, and optometrists in the community. These seminars feature
guest lectures given by prominent academic experts from Israel and abroad as well as Israeli
optical industry leaders.
